In export products or products selling in supermarket, first, enterprise has to take part in Vietnam EAN (The European Article Numbering System). Vietnam EAN will give code M for enterprise and guide them to create product code (code I) for each product.
To be a member of Vietnam EAN, enterprise has to pay participation fee and yearly fee. These fees are decided by members’ general meeting, acknowledged in the rule of Vietnam EAN and can be changed after application time.
One of important task of enterprise when applying bar code (code I) is manage its bar code following the rule that each code matches to unique product and not confuses with other products.
The products having different nature (such as beer and soft drink), different weight, different package ... must be granted different code. These barcodes will be a long - term using with the existence of these products. When the product is improved (weight change, package change ...), they have to be granted a barcode for new product.
Dossier for Bar Code Registration
- 02 copies - certified accurate of Business registration certificate;
- The Bar code registration form following the Ministry of Science and Technology’s form;
- The registration’s list of product using Bar code;
- The information registration letter for Vietnam GS1’s database.
Necessary Documents
- The copy of Business registration certificate for enterprise or the copy of Foundation Decision for other organizations;
- The list of product applying for Bar code.
